Day 2 - Part 4 : Surrounded by green tea in Jeju Island - Touch Korea Tour

Location : Daheeyeon green tea field - Haerakwon (diner) - Haevichi hotel & Resort Jeju - Jeju beach + Family Mart

Because the zipline is on the green tea field, and that we came here especially to see these fields, we had the opportunity to take an open-car (you know these car made especially for tourist *hehe that’s us*). We were driving *ok not us, one of the renting car driver* all around the fields and Ricky suddenly took the role of the guide. *Get ready, here comes the green tea joke*

Parce que la Tyrolienne est placée sur les champs de thé vert, et qu’on est surtout venu pour voir ces champs-là, on a eu l’opportunité de prendre une mini-voiture (vous savez, ces véhicules ouverts pour les tourists *héhé c’est nous ça*). On se baladait au milieu des champs de thé et Ricky a d’un coup décidé de prendre le rôle du guide. *Tenez-vous prêts, c’est ici qu’apparaît la blague du thé vert*

Ricky: “Ok so on the right, you can see a beautiful field full of green tea, isn’t it wonderful ?”

Us: “Waaaawww *master of exaggerated reaction thanks to Korean variety show* that’s amazing !” (ok honestly that was really amazing but I don’t do such reactions even when I see wonderful things, usually I keep quiet because I’m amazed)

Ricky: “And on the left, you can also see green tea ! Now… in front of us, do you want to know what it is?”

Us: “Yes, yes, we really can’t guess *we should be actors*”

Ricky: “that’s green tea ! And now there…”

Ricky : “ Ok donc à droite, vous pouvez voir un magnifique champs de thé vert, c’est pas merveilleux? »

Nous : « Waaaaawww *les pros de l’exagération des réactions grâce aux émissions coréennes* c’est impressionnant ! » (Honnêtement c’était vraiment impressionnant mais j’ai pas de telles réactions même quand je vois des trucs géniaux, je suis plutôt du genre à rester abasourdie devant ce que je vois)

Ricky : « Et sur votre gauche, vous pouvez aussi voir du thé vert ! Maintenant… devant nous, est-ce que vous voulez savoir ce que c’est ? »

Nous : «  Oui, oui, on peut vraiment pas deviner *on devrait devenir des acteurs* »

Ricky : « C’est du thé vert ! Et maintenant là-bas… »

This joke distracted us around 10minutes; we were so excited and full of energy thanks to the previous mission. We stopped near a beautiful place with a swing (that looked like a bench) and a giant egg *WTF? A giant egg?* My camera had no battery *eunggg T_T* so I couldn’t take photos and I’m the only member of fun tour who has shared all her photos on facebook *staring at Erry, Michelle, Dondré and Tim* That’s okay… I know they’re busy (especially Erry watching Running man :P).

Erry... ah...

Cette blague nous a distrait pendant 10 bonnes minutes, on était tellement à fond et pleins d’énergie grâce à la mission précédente. On s’est arrêtés vers un endroit très mignon avec une balançoire (qui ressemblait à un banc) et un œuf géant *QUOI ? Un œuf géant ?* Mon appareil avait plus de batterie *euuungg T_T* alors j’ai pas pu prendre de photos et je suis la seule à avoir mis toutes mes photos sur facebook *lance un regard noir à Erry, Michelle, Dondré et Tim* C’est bon… je sais qu’ils sont occupés (surtout Erry qui fait que regarder Running man :P).

We took a few pictures there and then the staff suggested shooting in the fields, among green tea leaves *yay !* We actually did again our gangster walk, with serious face and all (I got used to this at least…) ^^ We also ran, placed each in a row of green tea, and stroking the leaves with our hands. Then we got a description of a green tea leaf from Ricky *suspicious about the accuracy of what he said* and we played paper, rock, and scissor to determine who will have to eat a green tea leaf…

On a pris quelques photos là-bas et puis le staff nous a suggéré de filmer au milieu des champs *ouiii* On a enfaite refait notre marche des gangsters, avec un visage renfermé et tout (Je m’y suis habitué au moins…)^^ On a aussi couru, placés chacun dans une rangée de thé vert, et caressant les feuilles du bout des doigts. Ensuite on a eu une description des feuilles de thé par Ricky *suspicieuse sur l’exactitude de ses propos* et on a joué à papier, feuille, ciseaux pour décider qui devrait manger une feuille de thé…

Luckily, I won from the first round. Michelle actually lost and she was really suspicious whether we were serious about her eating a leaf. I was confused too, I wouldn’t eat it if I lost. And because Michelle was struggling with her leaf, a cameraman came as a black knight *so cool!* and ate half of the leaf. Michelle didn’t have to eat the piece that remained, we were nice to her :P

Heureusement, j’ai gagné au premier round. Finalement, c’est Michelle qui a perdu et elle savait pas trop si elle devait vraiment la manger ou pas. J’étais confuse aussi, je l’aurais pas mangé si j’avais perdu. Alors que Michelle était encore en pleine considération, un caméraman est venu en sauveur *trop cool* et a mangé la moitié de la feuille de thé. Michelle n’a pas eu à mangé la fin, on a été gentils :P

We kept on going through the fields and suddenly, we saw a brown shape. It was a deer *Bambi, actually. He lost his mom, and was searching for her… hehe*. Look at how cute he was *_* We could go really close to him, it was amazing. Then Ricky (who changed place and came at the back of the car) suggested having the deer for dinner (of course he was joking). I was so shocked I kept on staring at him like “Oppa, you’re so disgusting, how can you say that” and he kept teasing me like “hmm, it must be delicious”.

On a continué d’avancer dans les champs et soudain, on a vu une forme brune. C’était une biche *Bambi, pour être exact. Il avait perdu sa maman et la cherchait… héhé*. Regardez comme il était trop chou *_* On pouvait s’approcher vraiment prêt de lui, c’était fascinant. Et puis Ricky (qui avait changé de place pour se mettre à l’arrière de la voiture) a commencé à suggéré de manger la biche au diner (bien sûr il plaisantait). J’étais tellement choquée que j’arrêtais pas de le fixer  genre « Oppa, t’es dégoutant, comment tu peux dire ça » et il n’arrêtait pas de me taquiner genre « hmmm, ça doit être délicieux ».

He then told us that when he filmed his variety show “Laws of the jungle” in Russia, he had to drink blood of a deer (can’t remember if it’s really a deer of another animal). Told us he was serious, I have to check this through his show, if I can find it with English subtitles (please, if you know where I can watch it, tell me in the comments).

Il nous a ensuite dit que quand il filmait son émission “Law of the jungle” (Les lois de la jungle) en Russie, il a du boire du sang de cerf (je me rappelle plus si c’était vraiment un cerf ou un autre animal).Il nous a dit qu’il plaisantait pas, je dois vérifié ça en regardant son émission, si je peux la trouver avec des sous-titres anglais (s’il vous plait, si vous savez où trouver, dites le moi dans les commentaires *_*).

We ended the green tea field visit by passing by the kennel of the dogs. It was actually small castles and small houses. *so cute* The dogs there were quite lucky.

On a terminé notre visite des champs de thé en passant devant les niches de chien. C’était enfaite des petits châteaux et des petits maisons *trop mignon*. Les chiens était pas mal chanceux.

For dinner, we had some Jeongol with fresh sea food and chicken (yes, chicken! Meat lover *_*). Jeongol is a stew with different ingredients in it. This stew is sooo delicious. When we finished all the sea food and chicken, the owner came with noodles, put it into the stew and we ate it. It can’t even be described with words how it was delicious (still thinking about it…). Even if we were full already, we finished all the noodles.

Pour le diner, on a eu du Jeongol avec des fruits de mers frais et du poulet (yes, poulet ! Carnivore *_*). Jeongol c’est une sorte de soupe avec différents ingrédients dedans. Cette soupe était troooop délicieuse. Quand on a finit tous les fruits de mers et le poulet, la dame nous a apporté des noodles, les a mis dans la soupe et on les a mange. On ne peut même pas décrire à quel point c’était délicieux avec des mots (pense toujours à ça…). Même si on allait exploser, on a fini tous les noodles :D

Tim, who is a beer lover, wanted to try Korean beer and soju, so Ricky kindly ordered some. Because we talked about alcohol, they asked me if I drink a lot in France. I told them that I wasn’t allowed, because I wasn’t 18 yet, but that we drink regardless of the age. I finally told them I don’t drink that much (which is a bit true, I only drink when I go in a party, I don’t need alcohol to be crazy, believe me). When they came with the soju, they poured me a glass and as I was tasting it, I said “Oh, taste like vodka, but sweeter”. Ricky looked at me with a huge smile on his face “And you said you don’t drink … I caught you red-handed!”. Oh my gosh… that’s right. We had fun like this during dinner ^^

Tim, qui est un grand buveur de bière, voulait essayer une bière coréenne et du soju (alcool très célèbre en Corée), donc Ricky en a gentiment commandé. Comme on parlait d’alcool, ils m’ont demandé si j’en buvais beaucoup quand j’étais en France. Je leur ai dit que je n’avais pas l’âge légal (j’avais encore 17 ans), mais qu’on buvait quand même. J’ai fini par leur dire que je ne buvais pas tant que ça (ce qui n’est pas si faux puisque je ne bois qu’en soirée, j’ai pas besoin d’alcool pour devenir folle, croyez-moi). Quand ils nous ont servi le soju, ils m’en ont versé un verre et en goutant, j’ai dit « Oh, ça ressemble à la vodka mais en plus doux ». Ricky m’a regardé d’un air amusé « Et tu disais que tu buvais pas… Je t’ai eu la main dans le sac ». Oh pétard… j’avais oublié. Oui, on s’amusait comme ça en mangeant ^^

In the bathroom, Erry confided to me that she was worrying about a picture the photographer took of us during dinner. Erry is Muslim and can’t drink alcohol, so when we drank soju, those who didn’t want alcohol, we gave them water in their glass to be able to clink glasses with everyone. It’s true that on the photo, you can’t see whether it’s soju or water, and the water was in soju glasses, so it’s quite confusing. Erry didn’t want the photographer to put the photo on the Internet because it could cause misunderstanding. Because we understood and respected her religion, we all went to speak with Rachel to explain the problem and in the end, the photographer didn’t put it.

Dans la salle de bain, Erry m’a confié qu’elle s’inquiétait à propos d’une photo que le photographe avait prise pendant le repas. Erry est musulmane et n’a donc pas le droit de boire de l’acool, donc quand on a bu le soju, ceux qui n’en voulait pas, on a rempli leur verre à soju avec de l’eau pour qu’ils puissent trinquer avec nous. C’est vrai que sur la photo, on peut pas savoir si c’est du soju ou de l’eau, comme c’est de la même couleur ça peut porter à confusion. Erry ne voulait pas que le photographe mette la photo sur Internet pour pas crée de malentendu. On comprenait tous et on respectait son choix, alors on est allés parlés à Rachel pour lui expliquer le problème et au final le photographe ne l’a pas mise.

In the schedule, we were supposed to “watch stars with drinks” from 22:00 to 22:30. But honestly, I think all our Fun Tour family was very tired because of the heat and all. We asked Rachel if we would still do it, and she said that unfortunately, we couldn’t, but that if we wanted, she could tell us the direction of the beach and we could go just the 5 of us.

Sur l’emploi du temps, c’est marqué qu’on doit “regarder les étoiles avec des boissons” de 22h à 22h30. Mais honnêtement, je pense que toute notre Fun Tour family était crevée à cause de la chaleur et tout. On a quand même demandé à Rachel si on allait quand même le faire, et elle a dit que malheureusement, on pouvait pas, mais que si on voulait, elle pouvait nous indiquer où se trouvait la plage et on pouvait y aller que tous les 5.

I was so excited at this idea! Because we’re here only for one week, even if the schedule is tight and tiring, we still want to do as much things as possible, to create as much memories as we could together and here. It’s an opportunity you have only once in your life, so let’s enjoy it! I was also excited because in Corsica I often go to the beach with my cousin at night. I really love smelling the sea at night *dreaming…*

J’étais tellement au top ! Vu qu’on est là seulement pour une semaine, même si l’emploi du temps est plein à craquer et fatiguant, on a quand même envi de faire le plus de chose possible, de crée le plus de souvenirs ensemble et ici. C’est une opportunité qu’on aura qu’une seule fois dans notre vie, donc profitons-en ! J’étais aussi super contente parce qu’en Corse je vais souvent sur la plage le soir avec ma cousine. J’adore l’odeur de la mer la nuit *rêve…*

Some of us were a little tired and we were waiting for everybody’s approval. But I couldn’t stand still and I couldn’t stop saying “We’re going, we’re going right? Tell me we’re going!” Finally they agreed. Amelie went to ask the direction of the beach. We decided to go to our room first to put our luggage and take a little rest before going to the beach. Rachel gave all our room number to Dondré so that he can call us when we have to go down.

Certains étaient fatigués et on attendait l’accord de tout le monde. Mais je pouvais pas rester en place et je pouvais pas arrêter de dire « On y va hein, on y va ? Dis moi qu’on y va » Ils ont fini par dire oui. Amelie est allée demandée où se trouvait la plage. Rachel a donné tous les numéros de nos chambres à Dondré pour qu’il puisse nous appeler quand on devrait descendre se rejoindre dans le hall.

Ok so just remember the moment I will describe because I will describe how I lived this random moment and on the post of day 3 (at the end of the day) I will describe it of the other member’s point of view. *just trust me, I know you don’t understand right now, but you will*

Ok donc souvenez vous juste du moment que je vais décrire parce que je vais décrire comment j’ai vécu ce moment si banal et dans l’article du troisième jour (à la fin de la journée) je vais le décrire du point de vu des autres membres. *faites moi juste confiance, je sais que vous comprenez rien pour l’instant, mais vous allez finir par comprendre*

[ We all rode the elevator to go to our room. All the girl’s room were on the same floor and the boys were higher. This hotel is amazing, the elevator was entirely made of glass and the buttons for each floor were touch sensitive. It didn’t feel like an elevator at all xD There is a huge hall at the center of the hotel, so beautiful *_*

On a tous pris l’ascenseur pour aller dans nos chambres. Toutes les filles étaient au même étage et les garçons étaient un peu plus haut. Cet hôtel est magnifique, l’ascenseur était tout en verre et les boutons étaient tactiles. Ca faisait pas du tout ascenseur xD Il y a aussi un immense hall au centre de l’hôtel, super beau *_*

We found out that Michelle’s room and mine were next to each other, we were neighbors :D Erry was just 5 or 6 rooms away from us. We each went into our room. When I discovered my room, the only thing I could say was “Waw”. It was breathtaking. I had two bed just for me, like, you choose which one you want to sleep in and you can change bed in the middle of the night hahaha ^^ There was a huge bathroom with the shower on the floor, with only a glass to prevent water going in the whole bathroom.

On s’est rendu compte que la chambre de Michelle et la mienne étaient à côté, on était voisines :D Erry était 5 ou 6 chambres plus loin. On est chacune allées dans nos chambres. Quand j’ai vu ma chambre pour la première fois, la seule chose que j’ai pu dire c’est « Wahou ». C’était à coupé le souffle. J’avais deux lits pour moi toute seule, genre je choisis dans lequel je veux dormir et je peux changer de lit en pleine nuit hahaha ^^ Il y avait une immense salle de bain avec la douche à même le sol, il y avait seulement une vitre qui empêchait l’eau de se propager dans toute la salle de bain.

I had a personal balcony where I could see the beautifulness of Jeju Island and fully appreciate it. After putting my luggage on the floor, I started to get ready to go to the beach. Actually, I didn’t have so much to do… I mean, we’re just going to the beach… at night. Nobody’s going to see if I’m beautiful or not, and there’s no camera. But when I looked at myself in the mirror, the make-up was all messed up and I couldn’t take it anymore.

J’avais un balcon personnel où je pouvais  admirer la beauté de Jeju Island et l’apprécier pleinement. Après avoir déposé ma valise, j’ai commencé à me préparer pour aller à la plage. En fait, j’avais pas vraiment grand-chose à faire… Je veux dire, on va juste à la plage… la nuit. Personne verra si je suis belle ou pas, et il y a pas de caméras. Mais quand je me suis regardée dans le miroir, mon maquillage était tout dégoulinant et je pouvais pas supporter de me voir comme ça.

For personal satisfaction, I fixed it and I changed my shirt because it was all sweaty. Dondré wasn’t calling so I decided to take some time to just sit on the bed and rest a little. I was really looking forward to the beach side. I love it. Finally I heard the room’s phone ring. Dondré told me that we had to be in the lobby in five minutes, so I put my shoes on and headed near the elevator. Because I had to pass in front of the girl’s room, I tried pushing the ring bell, but they didn’t answer, so I just headed downstairs.

Pour ma satisfaction personnelle, j’ai donc arrangé ça et j’ai changé de tee-shirt parce qu’il était pleins de transpiration de la journée passée. Dondré n’appelait toujours pas alors je me suis accordé un moment de détente sur mon lit, à me reposer. J’avais vraiment hâte d’aller à la plage. J’adore ça. Finalement le téléphone a sonné et Dondré m’a dit qu’on se retrouverait en bas dans 5 minutes. Après avoir mis mes chaussures, comme je devais passer devant les chambres de Michelle et d’Erry pour aller vers l’ascenseur, j’ai sonné à leur porte, mais personne n’a répondu alors je suis descendue.

When I arrived in the lobby, all the fun tour members were here and some of the crew were still there. I did find it strange. Usually, I’m the first to be in the lobby or the second. And what was the strangest was that they were all still wearing their “TouchKoreaTour” shirt. I felt a little betrayed, being the only one not wearing it, I couldn’t stop asking them why they didn’t change and they told me that they didn’t think of changing it, or that they hadn’t time. Guys… I had plenty of time. Why didn’t I notice anything at this moment? I just found it strange…

Quand je suis arrivée dans le hall d’entrée, tous les membres de la fun team étaient déjà là et quelques membres du staff étaient encore là aussi. J’ai en effet trouvé ça un peu bizarre. D’habitude, je suis la première à arrivé dans le hall ou la deuxième à la limite. Et le plus bizarre, c’est qu’ils avaient pas changé de tee-shirt et portaient encore leur « Touch Korea Tour » tee-shirt. Je me suis sentie un peu trahie, à être la seule à avoir changé de tee-shirt. J’arrêtais pas de leur demander pourquoi ils s’étaient pas changé et ils m’ont juste répondu qu’ils y avaient pas pensé ou qu’ils avaient pas eu le temps. Les gars… j’avais largement le temps moi. Pourquoi je m’en suis pas rendue compte à ce moment-là ? J’ai juste trouvé ça bizarre… ]

So after this strange moment, I realized Tim was speaking with one of the hotel’s staff. Dondré told me that there was a concert right now in the hotel and that the woman could get us to go there. I didn’t know the band but we were all excited by the kindness of the hotel’s staff.

Alors après ce moment étrange, j’ai réalisé que Tim étaient entrain de parler à l’une des dames de l’hôtel. Dondré m’a dit qu’il y avait un concert dans l’hôtel et que la dame pouvait nous y emmener. Je ne connaissais pas le groupe qui jouait mais on était tous super motivés et touchés par la gentillesse des gens de l’hôtel.

We arrived in front of a huge hall were the concert was taking place, the woman gave us stick light and told us we could go in and go on the chairs to see more clearly. We thanked her warmly and went in. Even if we didn’t know the band, we cheered them wildly, and I have to say they were really great. The name of the band is Crying Nuts.

On est arrivé devant une super grande salle de concert, la dame nous a donné des bâtons lumineux et nous a dit qu’on pouvait rentrer et se mettre debout sur les chaises pour mieux voir. On l’a remercié chaleureusement et on est rentré. Même si on connaissait pas le groupe, on a crié aussi fort que les autres, et je dois dire qu’ils jouaient super bien. Le groupe s’appelaient Crying Nuts.

Crying Nuts is the most popular independent rock band of Korea. They recorded the official Team Korea song for the 2002 World Cup. We heard the songs “밤이 깊었네” and “안녕 고래”. Ok honestly we arrived at the end of the concert so we only heard the « encore » songs. But it was already awesome. After the songs, the woman of the hotel indicated us the direction of the beach. I’m still amazed at how the people on Jeju are so kind. The legend is true ;)

Crying Nuts est le groupe de rock indépendant le plus populaire de Corée du Sud. Ils ont enregistré la chanson officielle « Team Korea » pour la coupe du monde de 2002. On a entendu les chansons «밤이 깊었네” et  « 안녕 고래”. Ok honnêtement, on est arrivé à la fin du concert donc on a juste entendu les chansons des “encore”. Mais c’était déjà génial. Quand le concert était fini, on a retrouvé la dame de l’hôtel qui nous a indiqué comment accédé à la plage. Je suis encore impressionnée par à quel point les gens de Jeju sont gentils. La légende est vrai ;)

On the way to the beach, Erry lost her stick light *sigh* and she didn’t stop saying “Don’t leave me behind, I would get lost without you”. It felt really nice speaking to each other without camera because it was like a confirmation that we were really close and it wasn’t just for the cameras. Ok actually I already knew it, but it still felt good. A wonderful night was ahead of us.

Sur le chemin de la plage, Erry a perdu son bâton lumineux *soupir* et elle arrêtait pas de dire « Ne me laissez pas derrière, je vais me perdre sans vous ». Ca faisait vraiment du bien de se parler hors caméra parce que c’était un peu une confirmation qu’on étaient proches et que c’était pas juste pour les caméras. Ok en fait je le savais déjà, mais ça faisait du bien quand même. Une nuit magnifique nous attendait.

When we arrived at the beach, Tim went on the sand to see the sea closer, and Dondré followed him. Erry started saying it’s dangerous, and we shouldn’t go, because it was very dark and we barely could see anything. I tried to reassure her and followed the boys. I didn’t want to get my feet wet because I was wearing sneakers so I just stood on the sand and watched Dondré and Tim playing with the water.

Quand on est arrive à la plage, Tim est allé sur le sable pour voir la mer de plus près et Dondré l’a suivi. Erry a commencé à dire que c’était dangereux, et qu’on devait pas y aller parce qu’il faisait noir et qu’on voyait pas grand chose. J’ai essayé de la rassurer et j’ai suivi les garçons. Je voulais pas me mouiller les pieds parce que j’étais en baskets alors j’ai juste regardé les garçons jouer avec l’eau depuis le sable.

Because Erry was still saying it was dangerous, we returned to her. People beside us were playing with fireworks and Tim suddenly said he would like to try. So Dondré went to ask the girls where they bought the fireworks. In front of the beach was a Family Mart. This mart became our supplier of fireworks in Jeju. Michelle actually bought the fireworks. You know, those stick fireworks, you only need to light one side, to stretch your arm and let the magic begin hehe.

Parce que Erry était encore entrain de dire que c’était dangereux, on est retourné vers elle. Des filles à côté étaient en train de jouer avec des feux d’artifices. En face de la plage, il y avait un Family Mart. Ce magasin est devenu notre fournisseur de feux d’artifices de Jeju. C’est Michelle qui a acheté les feux d’artifices. Vous savez, ces feux d’artifices en forme de bâton, on a juste a allumé un côté, à tendre le bras et laissez la magie opérer héhé.

Dondré tried to take photos of me shooting the fireworks, but he could only take the firework in the picture, not me xD Later, I took my revenge by taking picture of him shooting the firework. We could only see him on the picture and not the fireworks haha Dumb and Dumber, right?

Where am I, Dondré?

Dondré a tenté de prendre des photos de moi entrain de jouer avec les feux d’artifices mais tout ce qu’on voyait sur les photos c’était le feu d’artifice, pas moi xD Plus tard, j’ai pu prendre ma revanche en prenant des photos de lui et des feux d’artifices. On pouvait juste le voir lui sur les photos et pas les feux d’artifices haha Dumb and Dumber, non ?

We chatted a little more and headed back to the hotel because it was quite late. We still had to shower and get prepared to go to sleep. So that’s how the day ended for us, beautifully. I slept right away when I closed my eyes. *so tired*

On a parlé encore un peu et on est retourné à l’hôtel parce qu’il était un peu tard. On avait encore à se doucher et à se préparer à aller au lit. Alors c’est ainsi que la journée s’est terminée pour nous, magnifiquement. Je me suis endormie à l’instant même où j’ai fermé les yeux. *tellement fatiguée*
